UPDATE: Business destroyed by fire

Multiple fire crews and other emergency units responded to Baxter Road in Hedgesville Wednesday afternoon after a firearms business caught fire..
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. – Fire crews were busy fighting a blaze at a commercial building on the 1300 block of Baxter Road for several hours Wednesday afternoon. The building was a gun and bike shop.

Hedgesville Assisant Fire Chief Kelly French said, "There was some concern about the type of ammunition and gun powder that they use, but that's all been locked up in a safe."

The fire department is calling the building a total loss.

That's also true for the man who was living on the second floor of the shop, and running the gun shop, Arsenal Democracy Incorporated. He said the fire left him with only the clothes on his back.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

The fire department said no one was inside the building when the blaze started around noon but it did require extra help from surrounding fire companies including Berkeley Springs.

The men who run the shop say they planned on having a grand opening in just a week and a half, and now instead they'll have to think about how to rebuild after the fire.
