UPDATE: Five Dead, Several Injured After Motorcycles Collide With SUV

The Franklin County Coroner has confirmed to WHAG five people are dead after a collision involving an SUV and two motorcycles.

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa.  Five people are dead after a crash involving an SUV and two motorcycles, according to the Franklin County Coroner and Washington Township Police.

The accident happened Saturday just before 2 p.m. on Fort Ritchie Access Road just above the Pennsylvania-Maryland border in Washington Township.

Police at the scene said a fleet of motorcycles was traveling in the opposite direction of the SUV when the head-on collision occurred. The deceased victims include four people on motorcycles and one passenger in the SUV.

Part of the road was closed off for about five hours as police conducted an investigation.

Police say they will release the names of the victims as soon as their families are notified.
