UPDATE: Good Samaritan Pulls Man to Safety from Fiery Crash

Police have released the identity of the drivers who were involved in Wednesday night's fiery crash, and they were both from the Four State Area.
FREDERICK, COUNTY, Va. – Officials are releasing new information about the accident that shutdown Intersate 81 Wednesday evening in Frederick County, Virginia.

The accident happened near Clear Brooke, in the area of mile marker 323 in north-bound lanes.  According to Virginia State Police, 38 year old Jason Pope of Martinsburg was driving a 1998 Ford pick-up truck in the right lane.

Investigators say Pope lost control, went into the left lane and struck a 2009 Volvo tractor trailer that was driven by 59 year old James Cessn of Shippensburg.

Pope’s pick up then went into the median and overturned, and came back to rest up right.  The vehicle then caught on fire.

Police say another driver saw the crash, stopped and pulled Pope out of the vehicle.

Pope sustained burns from the crash and was flown to a hospital in Washington, D.C.

The crash is still under investigation.
