UPDATE: High Speed Chase Involving Infant

Police in two states are investigating after a traffic stop turned into a high speed chase late Sunday night.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Police officers in two states are investigating a traffic stop that turned into a high speed chase late Sunday night.

Investigators say they now know an infant was in the car. They say the infant was unrestrained and not fastened into a car seat.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, the chase started in Martinsburg, went through Shepherd University in Jefferson County and then over the Maryland state line onto Sharpsburg Pike in Washington County.

Police say the car was reckless and going more than 90 miles per hour.

Police tried to stop the car but say there was a mix up with spike strips. The car on the run got passed them, but the police chasing the car were blown out.

The vehicle was later found near the Food Lion on Sharpsburg Pike.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating this incident.
