UPDATE: Man Arrested In Independence Day Shooting In Martinsburg

BERKELEY COUNTY, WV - Two people were injured after an Independence Day shooting at War Memorial Park in Martinsburg.

Police say Daniel Herbert shot Gabriel McGuire twice in the back and a eight-year old girl in the legs around eight on Wednesday evening.

Both victims were taken to City Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police Herbert had been arguing with an individual prior to the shooting.

Herbert attempted to run from police, even throwing the handgun into a driveway before being arrested.

The male victim also fled to a nearby residence despite being shot.

The fireworks display at War Memorial Park had to be canceled and the crowd was evacuated.

Martinsburg Police say Daniel Herbert faces numerous charges including malicious wounding and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
