VA Medical Center Lends a Helping Hand

As temperatures are expected to drop below zero, a special operation has been activated to ensure no veteran will be left on the streets.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - As temperatures are expected to drop below zero, a special operation has been activated to ensure no veteran will be left on the streets.

"In this situation where the weather is deadly we want to extend ourselves and go the extra mile to make sure we have all services available," said Timothy Cooke of the Martinsburg VA Medical Center.

Through this operation the Martinsburg VA Medical Center will provide a warm, safe environment for homeless veterans and their families during the extreme cold.

"We're providing lodging, food, a warm place to sleep, nice meals," said Cooke.

As temperatures continue to plummet the medical center stands ready to receive veterans and their families who need shelter.

"I think it's great what the medical center is offering so veterans and families who need a place to stay, please take advantage of our services," said Dana Clark of the Martinsburg VA Medical Center.

If you or someone you know is a homeless veteran and is in need of a warm place to sleep and a hot meal, please call 1-(877)-424-3838.
