WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - The Washington County Commission made a big announcement Tuesday when it comes to attracting and keeping businesses in the area.

Commissioners approved a new director for business development in Washington County.

"It helps continually improve our costumer service functions and were always looking to make our operations more streamline and efficient," said Sarah Sprecher, assistant county administrator.

The department that was once known as the Economic Development Commission is now being called the Department of Business Development.

"We can get economic development and business development projects in the door through that department, but we're also able to get one-stop-shop in their plain revenue phases and inspection phases which falls under the division of engineering and construction," said Sprecher.

County Commissioners are hoping this will be a opportunity to help the public better understand the county government.
