Washington County Unemployment Rate Follows State Trend

The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation announced an increase to Washington County's unemployment rate for June 2013.
HAGERSTOWN, MD- The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation announced an increase to Washington County's unemployment rate for June 2013. 

Officials say the 8.5 percent unemployment rate is a 0.4 percent increase from the previous month. They say the increase follows Maryland's unemployment rate, which up-ticked 0.6 percent. 

Officials say even with the slight 0.4 increase, Washington County's year to date average unemployment rate is at a four year low of 8.5 percent, according to date through June 2013. 

Washington County is currently ranked 17 against other Maryland counties in unemployment rate. 

Maryland's unemployment rate stands at 7.5 percent, 0.2 percent below the national average of 7. 6 percent, according to the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor statistics.
