Waynesboro Gives Back to Military and First Responders

"A lot of times when you look at our active and past military have done, what law enforcement and EMS and firefighters have done on a daily basis, the sacrifices that they make and their families make, it was a way for us to pay it forward."

Waynesboro, Pa. - As first responders battle the cold weather throughout the four-state area, the Waynesboro community is showing their appreciation through gift cards.

Partnering with the non-profit organization, Thanks-A-Bunch For Keeping Us Safe, The Buchanan Automotive Company is giving away free $50 dollar gift cards to any military personnel or first responders.

"A lot of times when you look at our active and past military have done, what law enforcement and EMS and firefighters have done on a daily basis, the sacrifices that they make and their families make, it was a way for us to pay it forward," said Doug Maronic, general manager of Buchanan Automotive.

More than 30 restaurant locations in greater Waynesboro area have put forth the effort to serve the people that serve the community.

"It's just a good feeling," said Maronic. "A lot of times you just see on TV and you read about all the things that these folks are going through on a daily basis. So to be able to say thank you to them and something in recognition is just a great feeling."

The signs around the area say it’s for one week, but the event is extended through the month and its available at four of the Buchanan Automotive locations.
