Police report the bleach-like odor was discovered in the store around after two employees were suffering from flu like symptoms from the odor. Hazardous materials teams responded to the scene and Fire and Rescue and police personnel evacuated the 120 customers and employees from Wegmans and the adjoining store,
Officials say hazardous materials teams monitored both business but they weren't able to locate the source of the odor. Officials conducted air monitoring and no abnormal readings were found. An hour and half after evacuating, customers and employees were allowed to return into the stores.
Police say the employees suffering flu symptoms recovered after evacuating to fresh air and refused further treatment or hospital transport.
