Winchester School Safe Following Lock-Down

Officers say around 1:13 p.m. they responded to Winchester Academy on the 2400 block of Roosevelt Boulevard. They say a report was received that a male was possibly in the area with a firearm.
WINCHESTER, Va. - Officers with the Winchester Police Department say a school was on lock-down Tuesday afternoon after an armed male was reported in the area.

Officers say around 1:13 p.m. they responded to Winchester Academy on the 2400 block of Roosevelt Boulevard. They say a report was received that a male was possibly in the area with a firearm.

As a safety precaution, the school was placed lock-down while officers investigated.

Officers were able to find the male, and determined he was in the area next to school, and never on school property with a BB gun.

Police say at no time was the BB gun displayed or anyone threatened.  

No charges will be placed and the school was able to resume its’ normal activities.
