WHAG NEWS - It is going to be another frigid week in the four-state region.
The temperatures are expected to drop below zero which has many people taking extra precautions, especially on the roadways.
“I embrace the cold; it’s just the ice, snow and slush I don’t get a long with. You still gotta come out and do what you’ve gotta do,” said Kevin Scott,
A survey by State Farm Insurance revealed more than half of drivers do not have the basic emergency essentials they need if they get trapped in a storm.
“For winter time you want to have a blanket, gloves and bottles of water would be good if you can keep them from freezing,” said Lonnie Brooks, general manager of Advanced Auto Parts.
Along with items to keep you safe, Brooks says it’s also important to have items to keep your car safe.
“Some kitty litter or oil dry in case you get stuck. A shovel, ice scraper, jumper cables and an emergency kit,” said Brooks.
Brooks also said make sure you keep your washer fluid full at all times.
“Some people are going through a gallon a day if their on the road a lot,” said Brooks.
Most importantly Brooks said, “Make sure you keep your gas tank at least half full, you don’t want to get stuck on an empty tank.”
