Woman Taken to Hospital After Vehicle Overturns into Creek

It happened around 1:45 p.m. on Northwestern Pike westbound at Stony Hill Road.
FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. - A woman was taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after her vehicle went off of the roadway and into a creek.

It happened around 1:45 p.m. on Northwestern Pike westbound at Stony Hill Road.

Deputies with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office say snow had started to fall in the area, making the roadways extremely slick. They say her vehicle ran of off the roadway, striking a guardrail before overturning into the shallow creek.

Deputies say the woman was stuck inside her vehicle for about five to 10 minutes in four inches of water as crews worked to rescue her. Northwestern Pike was shut down during that time.

The woman has been transported to Winchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
