World Champion Arm Wrestler With Local Ties Arrested for Assault

Ranson City Police say Travis Bagent is charged with battery on an athletic official.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, W.Va. - A world champion arm wrestler with local ties was arrested Monday for allegedly assaulting a youth football league official. 

Ranson City Police say Travis Bagent of Ranson, W.Va., is charged with battery on an athletic official. 

The incident was reported Saturday around 6 p.m. after a football game, when Bagent allegedly pushed another coach at Marcus Field in Ranson. Police say when the President of the Youth Football League James Pearson asked Bagent to leave, Bagent turned around and punched Pearson. 

Pearson suffered minor injuries to his ribs and was taken to the hospital. 

Police say Bagent was released on a $75,000 bond, and will have to appear in Jefferson County Magistrate Court for a hearing in the next six weeks.
