Weather Synopsis:  Today is a WOW Day!  Lots of sunshine and that has helped temperatures today warm up into the 50’s and 60’s across the region, and we’re going to go even warmer than that as we get into Tuesday. A warm southerly flow will help send those temperatures soaring before we see a strong low pressure system approach the region as we get into Wednesday. The clouds will increase as we get into Tuesday Evening, before rain arrives as we get past midnight.  Once this front rolls through the region, we are looking for some snow showers possible late Wednesday as temperatures drop behind the front. There could be a light accumulation at the higher elevations, but otherwise no accumulation is anticipated. Once the front moves through it will be breezy for Thursday and Friday, with colder temperatures for Thursday, but we rebound back above average as we get into the end of the week and the weekend. Our next chance of rain comes after the middle of this week with another system moving through for Saturday with a low passing to the north of the area, bringing the chance for a few showers.
Virginia Tornado Preparedness Day – Tuesday March 11, 2014: Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe has declared tomorrow, Tuesday March 11 as Tornado Preparedness Day in the Commonwealth of Virginia. A Statewide Tornado Drill will be held at 9:45 AM. The National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington will be issued a TEST Tornado Warning at that time to initiate the drill. Schools, businesses and residents are urged that this is a good time to practice their severe weather safety plans, on what to do if a Tornado Warning is issued for your location. WHAG’s Merris Badcock and I will be covering this drill in the Commonwealth on Tuesday. Tune in for a full report!

I'll see you with your forecast starting at 5:00 PM!  Have a great evening!
