Weather Synopsis: After a few of us in our eastern zones saw thunderstorms on Wednesday, looks like everyone has the chance to see a few showers or thunderstorms as we get through the evening hours on your Thursday.  We have a few upper level disturbances moving through the region today, one just to our west, and one over the Interstate 95 Corridor. These are providing for enough lift in the atmosphere for these storms to generate. These storms could be capable of producing locally damaging wind gusts, hail and heavy rainfall which could lead to flash flooding.
As this upper level weather disturbance moves off the Eastern Coast on Friday, we will keep the chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm in the forecast, but most places should stay day. A weak area of high pressure will move into the region for Saturday, keeping us dry, but as we get into the latter half of the weekend and early next week, we bring back the chances for showers and thunderstorms.
Another weather disturbance will move through the area for Sunday and into Monday, before a cold front tries to move through on Monday, but some of the forecast models are keeping the front around into Tuesday as well, before we dry out once again for the middle of next week.
Also, as we get into next week, some of the operational models are taking us below average into the temperature department, the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) also agrees with this, placing us in a 40-50% chance of below normal temperatures. Our forecast for the middle of next week, agrees with that, keeping high temperatures in the 70’s!!
Be alert for rapidly changing weather conditions this evening, as heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding. Remember, a Flash Flood Warning means that flash flooding is imminent or occurring. Take action, and move to higher ground. Do not try to cross roads of unknown depth, Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
