Weather Synopsis: We’re back into the summer time pattern of heat and humidity, and for the next few days it will come with the chance of showers and thunderstorms, some of those storms could be strong to severe.
Tuesday Night, the severe storms are looking to be isolated to scattered, then on Wednesday and Thursday before this cold front is forecast to move through the area, we could see more widespread severe thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire viewing area in a Slight Risk for severe weather for Tuesday AND Wednesday Afternoon and Evening. Damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall which could lead to flash flooding will be the primary threats with any storms that does develop.
THEN – We are also watching the tropics, with the newly formed Tropical Storm Arthur. As of right now, it does not look like Arthur will have a direct impact on our weather as the National Hurricane Center is forecast Arthur to strengthen into a Hurricane within the next few days along the Outer Banks of North Carolina, before continuing up the Eastern Seaboard and then Out to Sea in the Atlantic Ocean. Arthur MAY delay the cold front moving through the area until we get into Friday, so we’re putting a few more clouds into the forecast for the Fourth of July, but keeping us dry. We’ll watch this over the next few days.
As we get into the weekend, High Pressure will build into the area, and we will see a return to more summer like weather as we get into early next week with temperatures rebounding back into the 90’s with more heat and more humidity.
We’ll track any severe weather that does develop over the next few days, as well as the progress of Tropical Storm Arthur.
See you on WHAG News at 7:00 and 11:00 PM!
