Weather Synopsis: The cold front is moving through the area this morning, and we will say good bye to the rainfall and hello to some dry weather as we get through the end of the week and the weekend.
Today will feature breezy winds after the front rolls through, we will switch the winds out of the Northwest, but those will slack back off as we get into tonight and into the overnight hours. We will keep some clouds in with the sunshine for today, but as we get into tonight, we will clear the skies out, and more sunshine is on the way as we get into Thursday and that will last through the weekend.
High pressure will control the forecast as we get from Thursday through the weekend, and we will also being to warm things up to close to average as we get into the weekend as well, then as we bring an area of low pressure through the Ohio Valley early next week, that will bring back our chances for showers and thunderstorms.
On Tuesday, we had a decent amount of rainfall across the region, but as we working into the Baltimore Metro Area, they dealt with major flooding issues, as they set a new daily rainfall record of 6.30” of rain in one day. The old record was 4.91” of rain set back in 1955, but they also set a new record of yesterday being the second highest daily rainfall on record, with the all time daily rainfall rate being 7.62” set back in 1933 with the Great Potomac Hurricane. Lots of urban flooding took place, with pictures coming in from Baltimore/Washington International Airport of the Long Term Parking Lots under water due to the amount of rain that fell.
